The St. Louis Community Foundation promotes and inspires charitable giving in St. Louis. After more than a century of philanthropic leadership and with the growth in awareness of the benefits of donor advised funds, the organization is poised like no other to impact the way St. Louis gives.
The St. Louis Community Foundation believes every person has the capacity to impact our community through giving. With this idea in mind, leadership was ready to invest in a modern, engaging website to educate more donors and help create a more equitable, vibrant St. Louis region.
We began our work by hosting stakeholder engagement sessions, and analyzing target audiences, existing data and analytics. We then repositioned the Foundation as THE organization that promotes and inspires charitable giving in St. Louis and built a modern website to match.
Know Thy User
The St. Louis Community Foundation serves multiple primary user groups—donors, professional advisors and nonprofits. Creating a cohesive and comprehensive website that could act as a hub for all three was a complex challenge. The solution was to provide clear and redundant pathways to custom landing pages for each group, while elevating content—community impact stories and statistics—relevant to all groups.

St. Louis Community Foundation has been connecting donors with causes they care about for 100+ years. A primary goal of the website is to showcase the impact the Foundation has on its hometown, St. Louis.
Stories + Thinking
A new community impact section includes stories, stats and important foundation initiatives, such as the 60+ scholarship funds the Foundation manages and St. Louis Graduates, an effort to make continuing education accessible, to name a few. A new blog gives Foundation team members a platform to discuss the state of philanthropy in St. Louis, while keeping everyone up to speed on the latest Foundation news and events.
Sharing Their Home
At its core, St. Louis Community Foundation focuses on collaboration, learning, and caring for the St. Louis community. Having recently relocated to a historic home in Clayton, they see the Foundation as the “home of philanthropy in St. Louis”, a place where the doors are always open. Through custom photography, we captured the genuine warmth of their new space and the real experts in giving that work within their walls.
The St. Louis Community Foundation’s website now promotes the possibilities of charitable giving in an easy-to-navigate, cohesive way. By demonstrating the community foundation’s knowledge, expertise and leadership skills, the new site helps direct donors toward causes they care about, effectively providing for the community they love. Since our launch in early spring the average number of time on a page increased 18 seconds and the number of unique page views increased 30%.
