Westminster Christian Academy was ready to invest in a new website and saw the opportunity to strategically develop their digital brand at the same time. Our process brought their goals into focus.
Objective
Westminster Christian Academy,an independent college preparatory school serving grades 7-12, equips young men and women with the tools necessary to go out and change the world for Jesus Christ. The website is the primary public-facing marketing tool for connecting with prospective students and their families, but also serves current parents, students and teachers. The school wanted a site that would share their mission, vision and values while also updating the look, feel and sound of their brand for the digital space.
Strategy
The Almanac website design and development process brings together people from all stakeholder groups to discuss their wants and needs. Through that process, we found common ground while identifying specific areas where custom solutions might be needed. Working through design and copy with the Westminster team helped them crystallize their ideas and created a marketing tool that represents them now and their vision for the future.
Balancing Act
As with most schools, Westminster’s website has to offer a delightful experience to several very different, yet very important audiences, who each need different things from the site. We worked with the internal team to prioritize current and prospective students and parents and current teachers from the many stakeholders they communicate with daily. Through our planning and design processes, we were able to ensure that these key audiences could not only get the information they needed, but could also interact with the messaging and visuals that Westminster wanted to share with them.
Managing Data
Westminster, like many large schools, had recently moved to a single, fully integrated school information database that housed most information current students and families needed on a daily basis. From student schedules to athletic teams to admissions, our work included pulling the right data from that database in the right way and serving it up to the right audiences at the right time.
Experience Westminster
Westminster has been very intentional about creating a culture that nurtures young people and helps them build character. That culture had to come through in the website, to attract prospective students and reinforce the experience that current students and families were having. With emotional photography and spirited copy, we worked with the internal Westminster team to translate their culture to their website.
