Opening Up Annual Report – 2012

St. Louis County Library

The St. Louis County Library had the best year in its history in 2012—serving more people, issuing more library cards and circulating more materials than ever before. The busiest library in the state exists in stark contrast to the “conventional wisdom” that digital media has brought about the death of libraries.

To celebrate these successes, we wanted to find a way to show all the interesting and unexpected things that make a library such a unique asset for the entire community, as we did so in “Opening Up.” Rather than lengthy stories, our solution was to use a series of chapters—Statistics, Programs, Partnerships, Outreach, Foundation—to deliver highlights from 2012.
