New Minds at Almanac
As a business, design can seem like a solitary activity. And often it can feel that way, even for someone on the inside: designers, developers, writers at laptops, headphones on, pinging each other through Slack. While it’s true, we all probably rely on Slack way more than we should for discussing day-to-day minutia on projects, it certainly doesn’t replace the magic that happens when everyone comes together in the same room to solve a problem. Whether it’s to think through the information architecture for a website, review sketch concepts for a new brand, or my personal favorite—brainstorm new names for a company, bringing together diverse perspectives makes for a work environment incredibly rich with ideas. And it’s a hell of a lot more fun!
On that note, I’m pleased to welcome two new minds to the Almanac team: Marco Cheatham and Randy Verbeck.
Marco brings strong illustration, design and motion graphics capabilities to the role of Designer. In addition to wearing many hats (seriously, he has 50 hats), Marco also serves in a leadership role within AIGA St. Louis as the organization’s young professional co-chair.
Randy joins Almanac as the team’s lead Web Developer. His background in design and development pairs nicely with our interest in creating delightful user experiences. Also, his interest in mid-century architecture and design should fit in nicely with, oh, just about everyone here.
